A CAMPING TENT on the BALCONY for RENTAL. Its price? 480 euro

The ultimate anti rise-rents frontier area?

Everyone agrees: rents in cities are reaching unsustainable levels. It happens that you must spend 600 euros for a room, and if you go out to the suburbs, prices are still not below 450 euros. For students and young workers, the threshold to enter cities seems insurmountable. But creativity seems to have no limits….

Here we find in Switzerland, in Zurich, where a 27-year-old woman has placed an ad online that, at first glance, would make many people laugh: for 500 Swiss francs (about 480 euros) she rents out a camping tent set up on her own small balcony. But beware: the tent comes complete with an inflatable mat and pillows. Not only that: the girl also provides the kitchen, living room and bathroom of her house, but for sleeping the only option remains the tent.

Sandra, that’s the 27-year-old’s name, offers a tent on her own terrace because she needs a solution to reduce the apartment’s expenses. With a roommate, in fact, one can share expenses but, she says, “In Zurich it is very difficult, when not possible, to find an affordable room to rent that’s why I came up with the idea of the tent.”

Sandra has already received some applicants and found many people interested in her offer. As she reports on curioctopus.it, “Many students think my idea is interesting although I realize that it might be a bit complicated to find a roommate in winter because the balcony is not covered.” The question that seems to arise, however, is: Is it legal to put up a tent on one’s balcony as a rental? Certainly, it is not prohibited by law, however whether the lease between Sandra and the roommate can actually be put in the form of a contract is unknown. In the meantime, the 27-year-old proposes the “adventure” of living in a tent on a small terrace in Zurich, we will see who gets the “room” on the balcony. And especially whether terraces in other cities will also be fill with camping tents in the future
