In the heart of Rome there is a bar/restaurant that is also a museum. Open every day from 8:00 – 20:00, except Sundays, in the Atelier Canova Tadolini restaurant you can have a coffee, an aperitif or lunch surrounded by precious casts, fantastic bas-reliefs and statues resulting from the sculptural art of Canova and his favorite pupil. In use until the end of the 1960s, this venue on the corner of via del Babuino and via dei Greci, reopened in 2003 after 25 years of closure.

# It was once Canova’s atelier

Antonio Canova, now at the height of his European fame, signed in 1818 the lease contract for his “sculpture studio” in favor of the promising pupil Adamo Tadolini. In this area of Rome traditionally animated by artists’ workshops, Canova chose Tadolini as the only spiritual heir, entrusting him with numerous assignments and allowing him to reproduce his most famous works.

Until 1967 the Atelier remained in the possession of four generations of sculptors belonging to the Tadolini family before becoming a unique place, capable of combining two arts, food and sculpture.
