Ricetto di Candelo is a medieval architecture from Candelo, in the province of Biella.

The shelter is a fortified structure protected within a town where the assets of the local lord or the population were accumulated and where the population itself withdrew in case of attacks from the outside.

Ricetto di Candelo is one of the best preserved examples in all of Europe of this type of medieval structure. It dates back to the thirteenth century and is made up of about two hundred buildings called cells that occupy an area of about 110 meters wide by 120 meters long.

Today, Ricetto di Candelo is a tourist destination with a particularly fascinating atmosphere that attracts fans of the Middle Ages. Throughout the year, various events are organized which, within the walls, find their size and which give life to what is one of the best preserved medieval structures in Europe.

Ricetto di Candelo can be visited in a short time, an hour may be enough. We suggest combining a visit to the area, for example to Biella, Oropa or in Valseria, in the trip.
