The LONGEST SUSPENSION BRIDGE among the TREES in the WORLD

Can there be a suspension bridge among the trees that allows you to live an extraordinary experience, walking on the “roof” of a forest like a bird flies over the roofs of our houses? It appears so, and it would be quite a long walk as well as exciting, since it is not just an ordinary suspension bridge, but the longest treetop suspension bridge in the whole world.

Where is it? And above all: how long is it? Let’s find out together.

We have all thought at least once in our life “if I had superpowers I would like to…” and very often the phrase ended with “fly”. Flying is a skill that man has always envied birds, even trying to imitate them by building large metal wings. Unfortunately we haven’t learned to fly yet, but if we wanted to feel like a bird flying over the city’s rooftops, we could make our wish come true in Anakeesta.

What is Anakeesta? It is a huge outdoor adventure park that offers the opportunity to float through the forest thanks to the longest suspension bridge among the trees in the world. It’s located in Tennesse, more precisely in Gatlinburg, a small mountain village in the Smoky Mountains. Here the ziplines and cable cars are just some of the activities available, but the real prince of the park is undoubtedly the 20 meters high bridge. It was designed to be very resistant and for this reason it is not composed of a single bridge but of a series of 16 spectacular bridges between one tree and another, up to a length of 270 meters.

During the walk on the “roof” of the forest, if you look carefully, you can see bears, woodpeckers and other animals that live in the Smoky Mountains. The experience is a full-immersion in nature from an unusual dimension, that of air.

Unfortunately, a strong storm hit the park and many trees fell, damaging the bridge. Despite this, the suggestive structure has proved to be strong enough to hold on, in fact only 5 of the bridges have collapsed, while the other 11 are still open to the public.

If first answering “fly” to the question “which superpower would you like to have?” it really seemed like a surreal option, after a floating experience on the longest suspension bridge among the trees in the world it will seem slightly less impossible.
