You are in the desert, 40 degrees have long been exceeded and the only certainty is your tiredness, you would pay a fortune to cool off for a few minutes. And then there it is, a pink lake before your eyes.

It seems absurd but it really exists, in the middle of the desert a pink lake has appeared and it seems to be made of candy.

The United Arab Emirates are seven, we always remember Abu Dhabi and Dubai but we always forget someone who can actually reserve great surprises.

Among these we find Ras al-Khaimah. This emirate is slowly attracting the attention of travelers for its unique landscapes: between beaches, mountains, breathtaking views and deserts.

There is nothing that you can’t find in this place, even a pink lake.

When you see a photo of a pink lake in the middle of a desert, the first thing you think is that it is the result of painstaking Photoshop work, who would really believe it?

A lake cannot appear out of nowhere, let alone be pink, let alone both. Over the days, however, the photos began to turn on social media, so citizens and tourists driven by curiosity made this journey to reach the famous pink lake and there it was: a gift from nature in the color of a cotton candy.

This candy-like lake is located in Al Saraya, north of Ras Al-Khaimah and measures 40 meters long and 10 meters wide.

Being just 100 meters from the coast, it creates a unique tricolor spectacle: the pink lake, the red desert and the blue water of the ocean.

But why is this lake pink? The color would be a natural consequence of the presence of red seaweed that are usually found in these reservoirs.

Ras Al-Khaimah is not the only pink lake in the world nor the largest.

The most famous is Lake Hillier, an Australian lake located north-east of Middle Island, the largest island in the Recherche archipelago, south of the coasts of Western Australia.

About 600 meters long and about 250 wide, the lake has become a world star due to the permanent pink color of its waters.

What makes Ras Al-Khaimah lake unique is certainly its position in the middle of the desert but also its sudden appearance.

Seeing a lake appear in the desert is a strange thing, but seeing a pink lake appear in the desert is something incredible.
