The pillars of the French Revolution were in the motto Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité (Freedom, Equality, Fraternity). Many countries of the Western seem to have seen fit to eliminate these three pillars in the same order, collapsing the temple of contemporary society.
The first to be taken away was the freedom, with the lockdown.
The second, equality, with vaccine passport.
The third, through denigration and elimination of social contacts for those who have not been vaccinated.
Freedom was taken away starting from the lockdown – in which people was no longer free to leave its house – then declined in the different countries in all possible ways, from the prohibition of doing outdoor sports up to having to show a passport to enjoy it. We have witnessed the most incredible follies, from police raids on deserted beaches to drones sent to surprise “secret” meetings on the rooftops. Clearly, these aberrant behaviors have led to a change in the concept of equality, making some people more equal than others.
Equality has been suppressed not only formally by dividing citizens into first division and second division with the vaccine passport, but also intellectually, because a transversal alliance has been made from the workers to the elite against people who have not committed any crime.
The last barrier was broken with the proposal in some states to remove treatment from unvaccinated people and not to meet them even at Christmas. Fraternity – that should be the fundamental element of civil cohesion – is thus being criminalized.
Future historians, maybe, will describe this epoch as the Catholic Counter-Reformation following Luther’s reform. After centuries that have been the effect of the French Revolution, perhaps the current phase will be identified as the beginning of a counter-revolution that will inevitably lead to the formation of new privileged classes with absolute power over citizens stripped of all rights.
